I called up Sony support this morning and they told me that they were aware of this issue and are looking to push out a software update to address the issue.

Interesting, some people in avs forums say they are running the tv as center speaker with denon 6700h or 4800h avrs and it works fine. I fail to see how that is possible, as it would require and audio in to the TV from the center pre-out of the receiver. I have never seen a TV with an audio in like that.
